Editorial policy

Our promise

Every health page is based on published research, checked by a person against its sources, and dated. When the research changes, the page changes.

How a page is made

  1. Research. We start from peer-reviewed studies, systematic reviews and guidance from government health agencies. Other websites are never a source on their own.
  2. Writing. We write in plain language and put the answer first. We may use AI tools to help research or draft, but a person writes, edits and fact-checks every page before it's published.
  3. Fact-check. Before a page goes live, we check every number, formula and claim against its source. If a claim can't be backed by research, it doesn't go in.
  4. Sources. Each page lists the research it relies on, with links.

Calculators

Our calculators use published equations, named on each page: Mifflin-St Jeor and Katch-McArdle for resting burn, standard activity multipliers, and protein targets from sports-nutrition research. We test them against worked examples before every change. Our safety limits, such as the minimum calorie targets, are deliberately conservative.

Updates and corrections

We review every health page at least once a year, and sooner when important research is published. If you spot an error, email [contact email]. We'll check it, fix it if we got it wrong, and update the date on the page.

What we are, and aren't

TDEECalculator.AI is not a medical provider. Our content isn't reviewed by a doctor or registered dietitian, and it isn't a substitute for personal advice from one. We write for healthy adults and say clearly when someone should talk to a professional first. See our medical disclaimer.

Independence

We earn money from optional meal plans and some affiliate links. Neither affects our calculators or our advice. Brands can't pay to be recommended, and we label every affiliate link. See our affiliate disclosure.
